New Bands Added to the Festival Lineup!

Post by Julie Barnes on Wed Jul 28th, 2010

Last minute modifications have been happening every day for the past ten days. Sometimes I feel like my head is spinning! But, I'm so excited about these changes because they've resulted in SILVERLINE and BRIGHT LIGHT PARADE being added to the festival schedule on Saturday. I'm thrilled with the lineup of bands, speakers and emcees who'll be joining us this year and can't wait to see God's hand at work.

Please be inviting your friends, neighbors, family and church to the festival - we believe God is moving already to bring his Life to those who don't know Him by drawing them to the festival. But quite often that happens as He relies on us to be His hands and feet.

Check Out the Bands Live Online!

Post by Julie Barnes on Wed Jul 21st, 2010

Well, Mike, Ben and Dan brought it again! With their hilarious wit and nonsense, they entertained as they shared another Monday night of livefromthepath.org online with Spirit Midwest - this time with a couple of our bands: Next Crossing and On This Rock. Check it out at http://vimeo.com/13478396. The bands were awesome with their acoustic songs and it was great to get to know a little bit about them. We have really enjoyed getting to know Mike, Ben and Dan over the past couple of weeks and we're hoping to continue to bring the bands of Spirit Midwest to the station in the future.

So, we've scheduled Certainty and Saved on Sunday for Monday, July 26 and Tim Cooper & Friends for August 2nd. Be sure to check it out. In fact, you can go to www.desmoinesamplified.com and watch it live - and even chat with the rest of us while you're there! It's a great time and an awesome opportunity to check out the bands who'll be at Spirit Midwest next month!

Spreading the word . . .

Post by Julie Barnes on Tue Jul 13th, 2010

With Spirit Midwest 2010 drawing near, it is more important than ever that we get the word out, so I was thoroughly blessed to join Ben, Mike & Dan on livefromthepath.org last night. They have an internet-based radio show that you can check out at www.livefromthepath.org - it airs every Monday night from 10-Midnight. These guys are a riot! They opened the show with a brief introduction and a few "reflections" from each of them before they introduced me. By that time, I had tears rolling down my face from laughing so hard so it's a good thing it was radio, right?! No, of course not - radio just isn't what it used to be . . . they also had livestreaming video! Thanks a lot guys!

We had a great time talking about all the things God is doing with our Fifth Annual Spirit Midwest Christian Music Festival, including the expansion to two days, three stages, over 40 bands and onsite camping! When added to the FREE inflatable village, awesome food and merchandise vendors, guest speakers and of course, great music – Spirit Midwest 2010 is sure to be the best festival yet!

We have been thrilled with the positive responses we’ve been receiving as we’ve walked in the various parades over the past couple of weeks, as people are excited about spending the weekend at the camp, enjoying God’s amazing creation with friends and family. I hope you’re making plans to be there, too!

If you have any questions at all, feel free to call me at 515-577-8035 or send me an email at Julie@spiritmidwest.com and I will either give you the answer or find it for you. We desire to make this weekend one you will remember for eternity – in Christ!

Thanks for checking in. We hope to update the site with all of our last minute details, so keep checking back often!

God bless,

Camping Registration Finally Open!

Post by Julie Barnes on Thu Jul 8th, 2010

It seems like it has been the longest time since we started the ball rolling on the camping registration for the festival, but with all the details involved in the relocation of the festival, plus the addition of another stage, 20 more bands, another day, dozens more volunteers . . . well, there just hasn't been enough time in the day, I can tell you that! But, at long last, we are able to direct you to the camp director who will be taking registrations for campsites for the festival. Just email Parker Graese at parker.graese@grandview.edu and he'll hook you up! We have several types of sites available, including:

  • Tent sites
  • Camper sites
  • RV sites
  • Bunkhouses

Pricing is very simple:

  • $10 per night per person with a max of $20 per night per family (bunkhouse or any site except RV) or
  • $30 per night for an RV hookup

We're checking into "youth group" rates and will post them as soon as we know. With many of the bands camping with us, the sites are filling up fast, so be sure to make your reservation today!
